‘Tis the season…and coffee table books are in hot demand these days to slip under the tree or wrestle into a stocking.
We can’t get enough of gorgeously photographed, beautifully written and totally dreamy coffee table books that cover all manner of subjects – from Paris architecture and noble horses to drool-worthy cookbooks and…chic, woodsy cabins.
Speaking of, we’re delighted to welcome the queen of cabins, photographer Emily Followill, at Huff Harrington Home on Thursday, December 17th. She’ll be signing copies of her new book, The Southern Rustic Cabin, and chatting about the inspiration behind this addictive edition.
We got to know Emily last year when she came to Huff Harrington Home to shoot some vignettes for us. She’s a tremendously gifted photographer, a dedicated professional and a dream to work with. You’ve seen her work in Atlanta Homes and Lifestyles, Garden and Gun, Southern Living, Traditional Home and Better Homes and Gardens and many others. Check out some of her interiors:
And some tantalizing snippets from her book – we promise, you’ll have a bad case of cabin-envy!
All the cabins Emily featured are steeped in Southern tradition: catfish and grits served on Grandmother’s china; rustic but comfortable spaces that beg you to come in and sit a spell; and, above all, a connection to the land and scenery of which they are a part.
As Emily says in her foreword, some of the cabins are a couple hundred years old and others were completed last year. Some have been lovingly restored and others have been rebuilt to incorporate the creature comforts we’re all so used to these days. They all represent an escape to a place where time can stand still and nature can be enjoyed. The book is an elegant homage to Southern architecture and the intriguing blend of old and new.
We hope you’ll stop by to say howdy to Emily. We can’t wait to give her a big, warm Southern welcome!
P.S: also on December 17th, we’re so happy to have MacKenzie Williams and her fabulous blessing beads as well as stylish jewelry designer, Sam Dupont at the store. Come sip, shop and schmooze!
