Jenny's adorable shed made with reclaimed building materials | Living Vintage

We finished the project in June, and after that we gave Jenny plenty of time to “play” the term she used for finally being able to decorate her dream shed.

Since then, Jenny has told us again and again that she’s thrilled with the results.  Of course we are as well.  Jenny and her husband have enjoyed many evenings relaxing on her new front porch, drinking an ice cold Margarita…or two, and gazing at her gorgeous garden.  She also had time to proudly show off her “she shed” to the local news media.

We visited her home again yesterday evening and Mark photographed her shed, using his skills and equipment he has at the ready as a professional photographer.

We were thrilled to see it and Jenny again, and we were amazing at the shed’s transformation from a newly built structure to one that looks like it has been enjoyed for many decades.

Of course, the vintage character was there from the beginning, primarily because we built the shed using reclaimed materials almost exclusively.  That was what Jenny wanted and we were happy to deliver that vision.  Vintage character is our passion — just take a quick tour around our house and you’ll see that!    We used reclaimed brick for the foundation, reclaimed shiplap and tin for the roof, reclaimed 2×4’s and 4×4’s for the structure, and the entire shed was encased with reclaimed 105 siding still with it’s white chippy paint.  The brick came from the three old houses we salvaged in Jacksonville. Concerning the reclaimed wood used in this project, most of it we salvaged from our salvage project in Crockett.  The salvaged tin was salvaged from the roof of our second salvage project in Crockett — you can see photos of that project here and here.  Jenny supplied the reclaimed windows and the doors.

As you will be able to see from the photos below, Jenny is an artist when it comes to interior decorating.    She told us that she has spent many years finding treasures for the shed she’d been dreaming about.

We’d love to help other people in the East Texas area make their dreams of owning a gardening shed (or other structure) with vintage character a reality.
